Derris “Deevine Soundz” Perkins #thepeoplesdj is one of St. Louis’ paramount DJs. Born and raised on the north side of St. Louis, MO, to a working mother and a renowned radio personality and disc jockey. A graduate of Northwestern Missouri State University, with a Bachelor degree in Communications, Soundz has gathered his way through the music world for over fifteen years. He began spinning records in 1992 for college and house parties throughout St. Louis and surrounding cities. Known for his ability to blend all genres of music, Soundz later became St. Louis’ premiere skating rink and night club DJ. Skaters of Saints and Skate King rolled with the sounds of Soundz for more than a decade. In 1999, he landed an internship with Clear Channel Communications. After a brief hiatus, Soundz realized his true calling and rejoined the communications arena with Radio One, Inc. His career at Radio One began as a part-time promotions assistant. Within minimal time, he was promoted to local executive producer for the nationally syndicated Michael Baisden Show, Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm CST, and weekend on-air personality on WFUN-FM, Foxy 95.5 HYPERLINK "http://www.foxy955stl.net" www.foxy955stl.net Sat 3pm-8pm, and Sun 5pm-8pm. And holding the duties of Production and Traffic Assisant, sometimes at the same time he juggles each with a thorough mind, eye, and hand! Outside of the airwaves, Soundz continues to pave his way through the St. Louis and metro east area, specializing in weddings, birthdays, and other private and special events. He was also the house DJ for St. Louis’ #1 upscale nightclub, The Loft Jazz Club, for more than two years. In 2009 he still moves the crowd every weekend at Studio Blu, the sister club for The loft Jazz Club. “Deevine Soundz” Perkins, the peoples dj/mr life of the party is the man who delivers music “that will give you a lifetime of inspiration, memories and pleasure”!
